Meet the speakers for the Walk for Life SD 2020!
Tommy & Jimmy Kuebler
Tommy and Jimmy Kuebler are truly one in a million. This is because they are identical twins who both have Down Syndrome. They have the gifts of love, joy, and innocence. The twins enjoy creating their own dances and performing them for large crowds. In addition to dancing onstage at last year’s San Diego Walk for Life and this year’s as well, they are honored to have been chosen to dance with Jason Mraz at the Spreckels Theatre in February. Tommy and Jimmy are living proof of the sanctity of life and that each person has a purpose and passion to live.
Kathy is a former medical assistant in an abortion clinic who is now a fierce pro-life advocate. She has been counseling women caught in crisis pregnancies for the last 30 years. She is President/CEO of Mosaic Pregnancy & Health Centers in Granite City and Belleville, Illinois.
Mike Van Meter
Mike Van Meter has been on staff at Foothills Christian Church for over 18 years. As an associate pastor, Mike’s passion is helping students, young adults and men discover the power and joy of living for God. Mike, his wife, Hannah, and his five energetic yet adorable children reside in San Diego.
Maria Jose Fernandez Flores
Maria is currently the Legislative Advocate for the California Catholic Conference. Her role focuses on lobbying for Pro-Life, Marriage & Family values, as well as Immigration concerns. Maria Jose graduated from William Jessup University in Rocklin, California in 2018. Originally from Lima, Peru, she has lived in Sacramento, California for the past 19 years. She has over 10 years of involvement in the Pro-Life movement and combined 9 years of both working and volunteering for the Catholic Church.
María José Fernández Flores es actualmente la Defensora Legislativa* para la Conferencia Católica de California. Su papel se centra en abogar por valores próvida, del matrimonio y familia, al igual que asuntos de inmigración. María José se graduó de la Universidad William Jessup en Rocklin, California en 2018. Nacida en Lima, Perú, ha vivido en Sacramento, California, durante los últimos 19 años. Born and raised in California, Rachel is a passionate pro life musician. She works full-time as a Registered Dental Assistant and helps out with Retreats and events on the weekends. She won a songwriting contest for the Diocese in 2014 and has been writing music ever since. She hopes to help others realize the importance of every human life and spread truth through her music.
Skye found out that she was pregnant while homeless. She had a son and was struggling to provide shelter and safety for the two of them. The clinic where she took her pregnancy test, educated her on all her options including adoption. She knew that adoption would be an answer to prayer!
Skye placed her baby girl with an amazing couple. A year later, has her own apartment, a fulltime job and is passionate about speaking about adoption. She hopes to be a professional speaker on adoption one day.
Katy Yeager is the campus pastor of Awaken Eastlake Church alongside her husband, Mike Yeager. She has a background is in social work where she served at risk youth and foster children. She has personally advocated for the opening of pregnancy resource centers, where she volunteered as a Client Advocate and intercessor. Katy is passionate about seeing women and babies alike receive the care and resources they deserve, and will continue to be a voice in the pro-life community.
